Such a beautiful and emotional read. I read it in a library and tear up in public. The drawing are as beautiful as the story. The characters are great and Marlene is such a good MC

Frizzy was the best book for me! I love the art because of the realistic hair and how they drew the movements. I love how Marlene and her aunt had fun together🙂.

Self-love as a vehicle to change your own perception of yourself is only one of the interesting story lines in this graphic novel.  I really loved the character development and the friendships in this story.

A real good book to start the Hair Talk convo with kids. I could really relate to the salon struggle, though we had our hair permed rip. I wanted to punt the child bullies and clock most of the adults in this, but thats to say they did a great job showing how ingrained colorism, texturism and anti-blackness is in certain cultures/ society as a whole. This would’ve been crazy insightful if this was out when I was younger.

A super cute juvenile graphic novel. It gets a little bit heavy-handed at the end with the message, but it’s for children so it’s kind of to be expected.
