ending was not very satisfying. there’s no way a gunshot in bed wouldn’t yield fresh blood everywhere. also how would lombard and the cop not notice the headshot was faked? everything was pointing to vera, it was so easy to guess she would be the last death.

My book club read this for Halloween! It is a classic for a reason and was a fun way to mix up the things I’ve been reading lately. Such a brilliant, great story.
It was very long and sometimes I got bored with the repetitiveness of the storyline.

i’m beginning to think murder mystery novels are not my thing. id seen the play so i already knew the story but reading it really didn’t do anything for me although it wasn’t terrible, can’t really complain. it gets an extra 0.25 just because the reasoning for everyone dying is insane

My first Agatha Christie novel and it was fantastic! Lots of good old fashioned murder mystery and some twists and turns and dammed if I didn't want to know the entire time who the killer was so I kept reading and reading! Great fun!

i would give the actual plot 4.5 stars but would have to agree with the other three star reviews:
- the writing style was not for me… novel was short but was not an easy read
- because there are so many characters i found it v difficult to sympathize with the first 5 “soldiers” that were cut off. also becaus there were so many characters it made it difficult for me to wrap my head around what was going on in the beginning chapters
