I should feel more invested in this series by now. I'm enjoying it, I guess, but I don't feel heavily invested.

Another fun read-aloud with my husband. This one took over 3 months to get through, not because the book isn't good but because a) we always read right before bedtime, and b) my husband has a very soothing voice, therefore c) I would always get sleepy after just a few pages. Ah well, we enjoyed it, and on to the next one!

Might just do some micro-reviews for these.
It's another solid entry in the Dresden Files, with some great character moments and a build-up of the world. Faeries freak me the fuck out, see my ACOTAR review, and the characters introduced are quite fun. Dresden's down-spiral's another great thing. It's a very mature way of looking at loss, since his girlfriend is pretty much gone/dead. I just felt like Harry's magic is too deus ex machinay.

Better.
I honestly would stop with this series, but I have a tome with the first 6 books in it. It's a little less high school fan fic and a little more stock fae fantasy of a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. This book is an improvement over the others, largely because Harry isn't mostly dead through all of it.
The highlight is watching Harry channel MacGyver and escape from traps.

I know they’re a little cheesy but I just love this series oh so much. It’s so fun visiting them again.

The long fight descriptions in this book taint what could be a great read.
