um... wow??? I think I loved re-reading volume 3 even more than volume 1??

black edition volume 2 (bindup of vol 3 & 4) has always been one of my least favorite volumes in the series, but if memory serves me right, it's mostly due to my dislike of a character who gets introduced in volume 4. So that got lumped in with volume 3 & although I still gave the bindup 4/5, it was on the lower end of my faves for the series.

But reading JUST volume 3 on its own?? WOW. Half of it focuses on the battle of wits that I love so much in this series, and the other half is super action-packed and just... LOVE. This series is amazing.

All of the dialogue between L and Light, and both their internal monologues, are so convoluted it's unbelievable. It sounds smart, but it can get so boring while reading. I'd say point to the anime on that, because it's a bit easier to follow when it's said out loud, since I have a tendency to start skipping text when it gets too dense. I don't have the attention span.
Also again it's a series of two arrogant dudes with fragile ego having a very lethal pissing contest. On top of the L is extremely autistic (from one autistic to another). All of this being said I still enjoy the series so far.

This series keeps on getting better and better. Light and L meet for the first time in this volume and the new Kira is introduced! An action packed volume!
