I want to make it clear that my rating is of the book alone. Nujood's story is a 5/5. She is a brave, inspirational girl. This book doesn't do her justice though.

An equally heart wrenching and heartwarming story. The book details Nujoods life as her family struggles and she is married off at an astonishingly young age. The details around her marriage were agreed upon between her father and soon to be husband, without her ever hearing or consenting. Her husband, 3 times her age quickly turns out to be a very horrid man. Driven to free herself she makes the journey to a court house and demands a divorce. Amazed at her story a judge and lawyer quickly agree to do their best to help her be freed. It’s inspiring to hear how well this young girl dealt with and overcame the trauma and betrayal she endured.

It was a touching story of a terrible tragedy -- and I realize it was a young girl, but the flow just wasn't there. Still enough for me to sit and read the whole thing in a couple of hours and worth it.

Such a sad story to have happened to someone so young. A quick read but impactful at every moment. Nujood was a brave person for doing what she did
