Wanted to really like this story.. library, ghosts, detectives, awesome illustrations, what more could you want? Unfortunately I found the 2nd half of the story very slow and dull and the ending left much to be desired. Could have been so much better, but felt way too drawn out. Bummer.

Great transitional chapter book series. I think 2nd-4th graders will enjoy the story of Kaz the ghost and his "solid" friend, Claire.

A great chapter book for younger or reluctant readers, the Haunted Library series tells the story of young ghost Kaz and his sleuth-friend, who also happens to be a solid (non-ghost), Claire. They solve mysteries together in an imaginative, non-scary way. Especially nice for parents who might be tired of the puppies/kitties/fairies/princesses that dominate this age group.

This is a really fun read. Perfect for reluctant readers or kids new to chapter books with a fast pace and a bit of mystery to keep them turning pages.

My 7-year old and I took turns reading this book together. It is a cute story of a ghost who is befriended by a "solid" who can see him. Together they solve the mystery of the haunted library and decide to join forces to become a ghost detective team. My daughter really enjoyed it and is eager to read the second installment, I'm hoping this will turn into a long series. My daughter just started 2nd grade and though she stumbled over some words I think a 1st grader could certainly read the book with help.

A frightened ghost swept away from his family, a "solid" (aka non-ghost person) who can see ghosts, and a library that has a few mysteries.

This was a delightful read. It started off a bit dark with Kaz being blown away from his family. But it ends on a hopeful note and sets up the rest of the series nicely as Kaz and Claire team up to solve ghost mysteries and track down his family.

The illustrations are also adorable. They added nicely to the text and helped break up the book.

From an adult perspective it was unclear how a ghost family ended up in an old schoolhouse. In this universe, are ghosts dead people or can they somehow reproduce? Based on the fact Kaz knows nothing of the living world, some version of the later is suggested. Definitely overthinking it but kind of wanted a bit of context for the dynamics of the ghost world. I did enjoy the various powers ghosts have in the series, including the ability to shrink, pass through objects (and people), and glow so solids can see them.

Very fun start to a series. Definitely looking forward to reading the next book.
