It takes a little bit to get into this book. At the beginning, it’s hard to tie together all the threads and remember who is present in the various parts. Once you settle in to the book, it reads much more quickly. The overall plot isn’t particularly surprising, though there were certain parts that weren’t entirely expected. It’s an interesting premise and I like the way the characters are woven together, although it feels like the part with Paul Heger isn’t really a part of Nadja’s story itself. It’s hard to explain without giving away too many details of the book.

After reading, I would look into other books by this author.

For the love of Jesus and the entire galaxy, I tried to read and re-read once I couldn't understand what the author is trying to convey, but I would just be put to sleep. It's very rare for me to not like a book because not every book is tailored to my taste. It is a very chilly read, and the nature of it is dark, and shines light on how panic attacks occur and their symptoms which are accurate. I had to stop at 10%. I am still very thankful for Goodreads as I wwon this on a giveaway.

This is a story with multiple stories within it, and as the book progresses, they slowly come together. I felt really disconnected from the story for most of it, only really getting into it in the last quarter. Most of the characters are unlikeable or manipulative (or both) - at times, the only thing that kept me reading was that I wanted to know what happened to them. I thought the writing & the translation was wonderful, but the story itself was confusing.

Thanks to Quercus Books & NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for an honest review.

I think I hated everything about this book. The “twist” ending was terrible. Like everything you read was almost pointless by the end of the book.

What?

Why did the husband wanna frame her then suddenly wanna be a good man then take the blame?? That’s a sudden shift. The ending made no sense including the epilogue. I was confused since the beginning of the book. I didn’t like how the book would go from letters to past to present. Characters were clearly not “friends”
