while I was happy to see R.L. Stone continuing the Fear street series,it wasn't even half as scary as I remember. where's the blood and Gore? however the plot line was ok.I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's just rusty.

Classic Fear Street!!! I don't know why people are rating it low. I grew up reading RL Stine and I have almost all, if not all, of his Fear Street books. Even the special editions ones that weren't available in the Philippines. So I know the feel and the flow of the Fear Street books and Party Games definitely has it.

It's not supposed to be deep, it's not supposed to be mind boggling. It's just supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat, wanting to reach the final chapter to know how it's all going to end. And I love how RL Stine still did the cliffhanger thing at the end of each chapter. Definitely classic Fear Street!

I haven’t read goosebumps so i came into this book with no expatiation. It was such a disappointment. It went from a deadly mystery to a boring kidnapping. The plot twist really ruined the book for me then after that there was no more tension. I wasn’t scared for the characters and i was rooting for them to die to end this book.

The characters were very boring. Erik i found really annoying. Brandon i really disliked after the plot twist. Which is bad because with the kidnapping i think we were supposed to like him and root for him to survive.

(Spoiler)

SpoilerI was before going to give the book two stars but the book decided to pull a ‘this was all fake’ twist. It turns out that this was all just a sick game by Brendan including the dead animals in everyone’s bed. He snuck into everyone’s house and put a dead animal in there bed to make them in the right mood for the game. After that Rachel decides to date Brendan at the end.

This is a horror book and all the deaths were all fake out deaths. No one died. I guess that could work but the book keeps on trying to make us believe that they characters are going to die. The kidnapers don’t even kill anyone. Mack even saids that they are not killers. Why should i be scared of them if they keep talking about killing people and it won’t happen.

Jeez I understand trauma bonding but maybe Rachael should consider therapy and not dating Brendan after all this.

Fear Street is back again! Just like Goosebumps got a revival, this series also is starting up again. And I am really really excited about it. I haven't read all of Fear Street, due to them being impossible to find, but the ones I read were great.

This book was great, however it gets -0.25 for the main character (especially her actions during the last part of the book) and -0.25 for having 2 plots (which sure, match and mix together pretty nicely, but I still thought it was a bit overkill and would have preferred if he had gone with only the murder games).

Now the main character. I did, really like her in the beginning. Sure she had some odd things here and there, seems to have had some sort of break-up (though she didn't really tell her ex that, just updated facebook (youth these days)) and she seemed to like to blame her ex for a bunch of stuff. And sure she was a bit stupid, warned so often, and yet she just went to island. Silly girl. Typical horror trope.
During the games and what came after that she slowly deteriorated from quite good to Um girl, what happened to you?
Especially the ending part, that guy did so much wrong, gave you so many nightmares, yet you drool and follow him everywhere still? Hold on? What? Are you an idiot? I know love makes blind, but come on, this was just pathetic.

The story was good, I really liked the games part, and the part following that was also good though a bit unbelievable. And again, I also think it would have been better to just drop that part and continue with the games. Do something more with that part.

But it was really creepy at times, I really had goosebumps and I was really surprised when that event happened. So really points for that!

I saw that there will be more books coming out for this new Fear Street, well I will be following the releases and buying them!

Not as creepy as I was hopping for. It started out swell but then the swelling went down.
This was part of my October reads list. I love my Goosebumps collection, maybe the Fear Street books just aren't my thing.
