i was not expecting this to be so cute and funny. at the same time, i get why people would hate it, lol—there was some cringe.

i don’t like dual pov but this one is fine—except all the smut is in his pov smh.
the writing is great! the couple is compatible (which i don’t always feel in romance books lbr) and aware of their own flaws and feelings.

Also this book is very sexual. And very detailed sexual parts. But the book is amazing I loved it.

I’m having a hard time actually rating this because it wasn’t bad, there were a few parts that made me smile, but it wasn’t that good. It was super insta-lusty which I really don’t love. The whole book takes place over a week and by like day 3 they’re ‘in love’.
I mean really, who moves in with someone to a different state and quits their job after knowing them for a week? I don’t care what you went through together, that’s moving way too fast. It’s not even remotely believable at that point.

The main characters were both kind of annoying and a little dumb/frustrating. I like it when mmc are somewhat protective and possessive, but sometimes it went too far. They blame it on his PTSD that they mention once and then just kind of move on, not even mentioning anything in the epilogue about how he dealt with it. We also didn’t really get much about them as people or their backgrounds. Like with his divorce, he never talked about why he got divorced with her or said anything about his ex-wife. It was just kind of thrown in to show how bad he got obsessed with the Boston kidnapping case. It seemed like the actually story and character buildup was super rushed together and it focused a lot more on smut scenes, which kind of ruined it. There wasn’t much swooning or sweet things being said. It was kind of insta-lust to love right away when they barely know each other.

Also, what was going on with Jude and Dante? We never even found out what happened when Dante came to talk to Jude, it felt so incomplete. It’s like the author started to write a cute side story and then totally forgot about it.

Idk. It was enjoyable enough for a quick read. The mystery was pretty easy to solve.
