A quick read, especially in audiobook format (under 3 hours). I went into this book expecting a lighthearted fluffy book, but INHERITANCE gives more of Gossip Girl vibes. Like Gossip Girl, not all of the characters in INHERITANCE are likeable, and the characters often play each other for their own material / social advantage. There are some instances of infidelity, and an accident that is the result of toxic friendship. For a prequel, there isn't a lot of setting development, so at times it feels surface level, but I'm hoping things are more fleshed out in the rest of the series.

I did not even know that this novella was a thing until it was recommended to me on kindle. No one ever tells me anything! This was the perfect thing to shake me out of my reading slump. I needed more American Royals in my life, and not to be dramatic, but May 31st can't come soon enough.

This prequel follows our main characters on a night where everything changes for them. Beatrice finds herself alone in a car with her Revere guard, Nina, pining for Prince Jefferson, finds herself finally being bold, and Sam goes on a wild adventure involving a new boy and a garbage truck. This brought the drama, brought the ~feels~ and honestly helped bring a lot more context to a night that is referenced in the series quite a bit, but up until now, readers have not gotten a front row seat to. I really enjoyed this an can't wait for Rivals to come out at the end of the month. I will simply die.
