This is the third book by McMahon I’ve read and so far she never disappoints. A fast paced thriller with multiple timelines and multiple strong female leads all trying to solve the same mystery. I love this author’s skill in weaving supernatural with thriller and it’s always hard to put her books down. If you’re looking for a spooky winter thriller with some mystery elements I’d recommend this one!

Perfectly paced. It’s mysterious with plenty of creepiness mixed in. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great book until the rushed ending and not all plot points are explained.
I found the 1908 parts much more enjoyable then present day.
Some of the characters decisions didn’t match who they were in my opinion.

I expected so much more from this one. I was bored throughout most of the story and I feel like the balance between the two timelines was off, I didn't get invested in any of the storylines because of the way they were spaced out throughout the book. I also feel like the author tried to do way too many thing and I was expecting some mind blowing twist at the end but the ending turned out to be very underwhelming and basic, nothing really exciting or fun. Unfortunately, my least favorite Jennifer McMahon book I've read so far.

I devoured this whole book in one day. I love a dual-timeline story where the past and present connect, so this was right up my alley. It was delightfully creepy while examining different responses to grief and loss. McMahon is brilliant in the way she drops information, describes characters, and sets a spooky tone. This was my first book by her, but it definitely won’t be my last.

I really enjoyed this! Honestly it wasn’t as creepy as I thought it was going to be. It has an interesting premise that I wanted to find out what happened. I liked seeing how everything came together in the end.
