This story spans the galaxy as Supergirl and her new companion take off on a journey of revenge/ rescue (trigger warnings and possible spoiler for animal injury/death). While this is certainly an adventure most of the action seems to happen off screen or very quickly in just a few panels which I personally really enjoyed. If you are looking for action on every page maybe not the right book for you right now. It is very wordy which did feel very tedious. Overall, I really liked this book. It was a wild roller coaster of emotions and at times I wasn’t sure if I liked it but it definitely stuck with me and I couldn’t put it down. The artwork was fantastic too. If you are anything like me and can’t handle animal harm or death please check the spoiler before reading.
the dog is fine the horse is not

I cried… so many times reading this. I’ve never ready anything of Supergirl before, and frankly picked up the book because I loved the art style. It is one of my favorite comic book stories I’ve ever read. The story is compelling and well-paced, with a masterful balance of action, tension, calm, reflection, and humor. The lettering is skillful and adds just enough to the experience without distracting from it. The art… the art is breathtaking, and I found myself poring over pages and panels to appreciate the details as I read. Supergirl is saturated with anger, sadness,  guilt - and even more so with compassion and love.  This isn’t just a story about vengeance, but what it means to achieve vengeance, to be consumed by it, and to come out the other end changed (for better or worse). It’s a story about pain, and mourning, and surviving. It’s a story about love and grief and taking care of each other. I will be thinking about this story for a long time.

This hit all my boxes: medieval-esque fantasy, strong women, beautiful prose. The story does get a bit long-winded at times but honestly, I read medieval chronicles for uni, I'm used to it (and starting to enjoy it). This was just high quality all around! I did have some issues plot-wise but the conclusion was still nice (though it took me some time to understand, have to admit) and Kara & Ruthye really learned from eachothers experiences.
