I would have given this 5 stars but I didn’t just because Kara swears an awful lot, yes she’s 21 now but she’s never been one to use expletives. Apart from that, her caring and hopeful character integrity remains intact.
This story is an Elseworlds story- in a different continuity and I went into the book knowing that. It’s a good story and the art is stunning!
I would recommend!

This story spans the galaxy as Supergirl and her new companion take off on a journey of revenge/ rescue (trigger warnings and possible spoiler for animal injury/death). While this is certainly an adventure most of the action seems to happen off screen or very quickly in just a few panels which I personally really enjoyed. If you are looking for action on every page maybe not the right book for you right now. It is very wordy which did feel very tedious. Overall, I really liked this book. It was a wild roller coaster of emotions and at times I wasn’t sure if I liked it but it definitely stuck with me and I couldn’t put it down. The artwork was fantastic too. If you are anything like me and can’t handle animal harm or death please check the spoiler before reading. the dog is fine the horse is not
Graphic: Death and Violence
Moderate: Animal death

A character study of Supergirl through the eyes of an alien that has only just met her but must go on a perilous journey together. A unique way to highlight how different Kara can be from her cousin, whether or not you identify this interpretation of Supergirl as true to the character as you see her.
Gorgeous art throughout makes this a powerful read regardless of how you feel about the character's interpretation. I don't think it's meant to be "canonical" as most of Tom King's recent output appears to be individualized, idiosyncratic takes on classic DC characters.
I have to say, Supergirl often gets overlooked and underwritten as "Superman Lite" or just "Girl Superman" so it is refreshing to read a Supergirl that, while still living up to those heroic ideals, is very different and distinct in personality from Kal.

Supergirl is my favorite superhero of all time, alongside Superman, because i resonated with her so much when i was younger—feeling like you're always in someone else's shadow, never quite finding your place in the world. this story is beautifully written and crafted, and it made me cry a few times. i love when Kara is just a little bit angry at the world because she has every right to be. this is going to be a classic comic book recommendation from me from now on.

A unique tale in the lore of Supergirl, that feels like the kind of high fantasy/sci-fi you’d find in Heavy Metal.
This book made me think a lot about who Supergirl is as a character, how she’s similar to Clark and how she’s different. Kara and Clark feel like a matched set, which nothing against that, I love it even, but King worked hard to show Kara’s values and personality separate from Clark and Superman. I really liked it.
The art was absolutely gorgeous. Kara has the looks of a silent film star, and I thought it might be jarring considering the high fantasy of the plot but it worked really well!
All in all, a very enjoyable book in the Supergirl canon.
