Even though I had to read this for a class their book was honestly very enjoyable despite the amount of tragedy talked about in the book. Also this book was very eye opening to how people in El Salvador where treated during the war.

So moving and beautifully written. I especially liked the different perspectives it gave through Adolfina and the unnamed soldier. It was incredibly honest and I loved that it was told from the perspective of an “ordinary” woman with little to no involvement of the war. It made it more powerful to know how everyone was impacted by the violence, not just those contributing to it.
