Not my cup of tea as far as poetry goes...a bit too much on the inspirational side for my taste.

I have been reading this book on and off for the past few months. It feels like every time I opened it, the words related to something I was going through at the time. Not sure where this is considered poetry/self-help/collection of thoughts but most of it was useful, just came off as preachy at times.

I just expected more! I wish there was more of a coherent form. It’s not quite prose... nor poetry. Honestly, it feels like she was writing about random topics in a 364 Things To Write About. With all of this being said, her perspective is still told quite skillfully. I just wish it was more.... challenging.

I've read lots of poetry and this one is like no others. I like how the point of this book is to love yourself first. That couldn't be more true, I mean you're the one who capable of loving yourself wholly, no one can love you like you. This book has the power to encourage us to be ourselves, to be true to ourselves. I recommend this book to basically anyone.

definitely would not recommend this. appreciate the efforts of the writer and i believe the proses were written with well intention, the entire book is basically literary version of attending a tedtalk of some insta influencer holier than thou where they preach hours on positivity

3/5 stars
“... don't invest your feelings in things. Don't invest them in people. Don't be good, considerate, honest, generous, and compassionate to others because you are investing in them as people, meaning because you expect something in return. If you do, you will be, and most likely you already have been, brought to deep disappointment. Be good to people because you are investing in goodness, consideration, honesty, generosity, and compassion, because those qualities have never failed to be rewarding.”

This book had a very strong start, it was a solid 4 star book for me, but as I kept on readings the writing and topics became so redundant. Some parts of the book were really good but most of the prose were quite repetitive.

“The reality you live in is partially up to you. The fantasy you live in is entirely up to you.”
