Very very poetic and beautifully written, I cried multiple times
Really enjoyed this book even tho it smh took me over a month to finish it.

the ending really surprised me like I did NOT see that coming. Therefore I had to finish The last third of the book in one sitting.

There were some bits in here that I really loved. One chapter blew me away. And a dozen sentences felt like love notes just for me.
But overall, either some litfic is just a bit too much up its own ass for my tastes or... This wasn't that good. Maybe both.

I'm glad I read this for a book club because I think I need to talk about it to unpack what the hell happened but I'm excited to do so. This also should be required reading for anyone who wants to use the phrase "unreliable narrator." Very reminiscent to me of We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, I found myself comparing the main characters super frequently

I wish I’d had time to read this book in one sitting and relish it. It’s so removed yet so immersed in its own culture and environment to the point of completely capturing small town life and isolation, and the story takes so many twists and turns
