I really, really tried to like this book. Honest! I really like Jamie McGuire, so I thought this book would be ok! IVE NEVER BEEN SO WRONG IN MY LIFE
Let's talk about Nina.
Nina likes to overreact. All. The. Time.
Here's an example:
Nina, desperate to see Jared, stabs holes in her own tires to attract his attention. WHAT?!?!
She pouts in the FREEZING COLD RAIN waiting for him. And waiting. And waiting. SHE IS SHIVERING AND CANT FEEL HER FINGERS AND IS NUMB YET HER LOVE FOR JARED MAKES HER ABANDON ALL COMMON SENSE... OK
Finally, Jared appears! Yay! But, oh no! She still won't get into the car. ?!?!?! Get in the damn car Nina! But no, their love is passionate and Nina is willing to risk everything for angel stalker boy, including hypothermia. Finally, ASB gets her into the car and is suprised when her lips are blue. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU NINA
YOU COULD HAVE STABBED YOUR TIRES AND JUST WAITED IN YOUR CAR WITH THE WARMTH AND LISTEN TO SAD MUSIC WHILE WAITING FOR ASB BUT YOU HAD TO GO IN THE RAIN WHY NINA WHY

Rant over. But, honestly, Nina made this book so intolerable. She was lukewarm at first, but turned into an overdramatic Bella at the end. Now that I think about it, this book is Twilight #2. Strange, hot, stalker boy who seems to find the innocent, "intelligent" girl in any scene of trouble. Insta-love. Other friend who is a boy really likes "intelligent" girl and gets mega jealous when she hangs out with her mysterious man, even though she is BLAND AND UNLIKEABLE. Boy and girl fight. Boy stays away from girl to "keep her safe," yet succumbs to his desires and returns to their deeply passionate love. That's about as far as I got!

So. If you haven't read Twilight or any other book that follows that plot line, you should love this book!

SORRY I AM BITTER I JUST WANTED TO LIKE THIS SO BAD UGH

**** 1/29/15 EDIT
I am so, so sorry GR friends for making you read this. I'm actually laughing at how unintelligible this sounds. It was in the heat of the moment and I just had to get my RAGE OUT

I did not know the paranormal element before I started reading this book, but I LOVED it. It is my first angel book so the bar has been set high for any furture angel book that I read.

I exist for you. I live for you, and I live to love you.

Gosh.. Jared said all the right things to melt my heart....

*Meinung:*

I never knew what the whole sweet potato fries thing was when I joined the Macpack Fandom group until I read this book. After reading past the lunch part I didn't see anything else about it and was wondering why does everyone refer to it like it's a big thing when only mentioned one time? Then I kept reading and it's Jared's and Nina's Okay. (Fault in our stars reference if you don't know) I absolutely loved this book. I'm usually scared to read something different that isn't about the Maddox family from the same author but I see I was so so wrong. I need to trust Jamie LOL. Jared and his siblings are bad asses and I wished I had their training. On to the next one!

OH MY GOD!

I read this book in LESS than twelve hours and it wasn't because it was an "easy" read. No. It's because of how AMAZING it is. I loved every second of it. Sometimes Jared came off a bit stalker-ish but then you reminded yourself of his feelings long before meeting Nina and "everything was okay". READ THIS BOOK, I'M SERIOUS!

3.5 stars. There were parts of the book I loved, but too many that bugged me. Nina was the typical selfish, but I think I'm being noble, character we see if YA books. I also had a hard time buying into the character history - archangels, fallen angels, half angels, mean angels. All that said, I did enjoy it well enough to try the other 2 in the series and hope Nina leaves behind some of her weaker qualities.
