WHAT I LIKED:
- the writing felt whimsical and captivating. I enjoyed the way the author transported me into the world of Luce.
- the promise. I can see this author’s vision and it intrigues me. The ending was fun and definitely made me want to continue the series.
- Lore. His crows. That was pretty damn cool.
- a world surrounded by water and sea serpents!

WHAT I STRUGGLED WITH:
- the world building. It felt awkward and I sometimes wish we were given more information sprinkled throughout.
- the random bits of modern language? When I read fantasy I don’t expect to see the words “go out” (as go dating/take on a date) and other pieces of slang. It took me out of the story every time I came across it.
- FALLON. FALLON. I usually try and find other pieces of a story I like rather than the main character, but she was so naive and frustrating and I found it hard to root for her at times. Not to mention the double standard she places on women. I could see growth in the end, though, and I am interested in how her character progresses.
- the length. I think with another round or two of editing this would have been a four star read for me. The beginning was so slow and it didn’t pick up until about 60%.

A half-fae woman with no magic finds herself failing upward to her destiny, with no shortage of love interests she stops at nothing to do what she thinks is right for her family and friends.

I wasn't into the new adult story at first, especially since the whole plot gets driven forward by the FMC's "bad choices", but I finally got into it when she sets off to find the other 4 crows.

Kind of wish this had a different title that didn't try to ride the romantasy hype train.

This story took for ever to get going. It eventually got interesting but damn the FMC was super annoying at times and naive. Like suuuuper naive. I want to see what happens next but I don’t think I’ll end up finishing this series unless it gets much better
