Encore meilleur de le tome 1 

J’ai adoré le premier tome mais alors LÀ je sur kiffe le 2e. Je trouve qu’il est meilleur que le premier. 

 

L’histoire commence 5 ans après les événements du tome 1. On suit toujours les points de vues de Nahri et Alizayd mais avec un point de vu en plus, celui de Dara. Avec Nahri on suit se qui c’est passé durant les 5 ans à Daevabad. On suit Alizayd exilé de force à Am Gezira par son père. On en apprend plus sur la façon dont il a réussi à reconstruire sa vie Am Gezira. Et enfin celui de Dara, dans la construction d’un plan. 

 

Ali reste toujours mon personnage préféré. J’aimais déjà moyennement le personnage de Dara dans le tome 1 mais là il a plongé encore plus bas. Pas jusqu’au point de le détester mais à la limite. 

 

L’intrigue principale reste toujours très politique mais elle reste facile à lire et les touches de romance toujours very slight. 

 

Encore une fois il faut avoir le coeur accroché dans les derniers chapitres 🤣 

 

On peut sentir la belle plume de l’auteur en VO. Le travail du traducteur aussi est incroyable. 

 

J’ai tellement hâte de commencer le tome 3 surtout avec la fin 🫣

Chakraborty's The Kingdom of Copper continues the tale left off in its prequel The City of Brass, following the protagonists who have settled five years after Dara and Nahri's failed attempt to escape. This novel focuses even further on domestic policy in Daevabad and introduces strategic warfare.

Love the execution of political turmoil! For a few scenes, I wished that Chakraborty refrained from telling than showing, but those moments were so sparse that they did not rip me out of the flow.
If the first novel was Nahri's arc, then this one is most definitely

Alizayd

's. Albeit slower than Nahri, it was heartwrenching to watch this character's growth, and I hold them dear. And again, every character is believable and I cannot bring myself to hate the majority of them.

I am delighted by the twists and turns! I have already picked up The Empire of Gold.

While there are some characters I disliked but felt like I could understand their actions, there were others I wanted to slap very hard regularly for acting so irrationally and purely on emotion. The three main characters I continued to feel for, though not equally. There were two I definitely sympathized more with because it felt like they were making efforts and looking for how to do better. Though, trauma and having ideology put before a person from a young age cannot be any easy thing to change. 

There were a lot of twists in this. And I liked how sometimes one character’s perspective was purposely not gone back to regularly to keep the suspense for the reader about how all things were progressing. 

Chakraborty conveyed the complexity of emotions and relationships between people very well as things progressed in this book. And I’m very interested to see how things continue into the third book.

Ce deuxième livre est aussi bien que le premier, il est devient même drôle. On ne s'ennuie pas à un seul moment, les 700 pages sont avalées sans aucun accrochage (on peut également féliciter la traductrice). Le monde est clarifié dans celui ci et on découvre de nouveaux aspects. 
Pour les personnages, alors que je les appréciais dans le précédent, iels deviennent carrément attachants. Le développement de Nahri est fabuleux. Elle se prend enfin en main. Il y a beaucoup de femmes présentes dans celui ci, ce qui manquait dans le premier. Ali est encore plus engagé dans sa lutte anti classe à Daveabad. Dara commence à utiliser son cerveau et son bon sens tout en restant un ennemi terrifiant.
