Fantastic book. I’m working through the idea of creating an alter ego, so I’m not 100% if it works, but it rings true with my experience. The idea of taking the traits that are already a part of you and ensuring that these traits “show up” at the right time and in the right Field of Play makes all the sense in the world. Great, practical stories combined with even more practical lessons. And unlike most “self-help” type books, it has very little fluff or filler. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to make intentional changes to their performance and who isn’t afraid to play.

While there were some interesting ideas in here, it is just another self-help book with tons of references to its website and telling you to recommend it to your friends, while the advice itself could have been shortened into a nice article without losing much. It is a more elaborate and actionable "fake it till you make it" strategy, and it can work if you're open to it. But you don't need this book to help you with that. A short list of bullet points will do the same.

Even if there is a lot of fluff, I was interested in most of it and never wondered when it was going to be over. There's a bit of repetition at times, but as I listened to this as an audiobook, this wasn't as noticeable as it otherwise would have been. It's pretty much ideal for listening to while you're doing something else. But if this has 100% of your attention, I imagine you'd get bored with it quickly.

The first half of the book was really just establishing the concept Todd Herman was trying to get down. The rest was additional alter-ego building advice and did not have to be read in any in particular order. I really enjoyed exploring the concept behind this book.

3.5 stars - I wasn’t expecting this to be all that useful, but there are some concrete, actionable steps laid out that are very thought provoking. Will be consulting over time.
