The third installment and no doubt my favourite so far. Star is such a wonderful character and I felt like I could connect with her in some ways. I loved how the story unfolded from Flora's journals and I did not guess the few twists along the way. The descriptions of the houses and The Lakes made it all sound so amazing. I also loved the parts with Flora's famous friend. I really did not want this book to end.

Not my favourite book in the series due as some of the characters were quite hard to get along with and like. Characters (in both time periods!) also had a tendency to make really silly and annoying decisions - made me want to shout at the book at certain periods!

The pacing of this book seemed a lot slower than the first two because of the lack of dialogue between characters as Star is quiet and does not speak for the sake of speaking. I found a lot of resemblance between myself and this sister’s personality and interests. The dynamic between Star and Cece’s relationship was harder to read but relatable in some aspects. The story of her past family dragged on a bit in the last third and the ending wasn’t as strong as the first two however I’m looking forward to reading Cece’s story next.
