Forbidden love trope, CHECK!
Music lovers, CHECK!
Kpop boy band, CHECK!
Sneaky couple moments, CHECK! CHECK! CHECK!

Omg what should I say !!!
Recently I was so much into kdramas and this book ought to find me at such a perfect phase which is why maybe even thou being 300+ pages it just took me few handful days to get it done.
That's such a huge achievement for me. lol.
Such an ease in her writing style, you truly get all those kdrama vibes through her book, right from the beginning; having fun in the karaoke station to kpop boy bands and their ugly & darker truths, to having tteokbokki with your Friends and enjoying kpop concerts; getting to know about their hardworking and busy high school schedules to all the scandalous world they all live in and maybe what not... and yes also not to mention all those cringed but mandatory sneaky couple moments which definitely give out sweet lil butterflies in your stomach... XOXO is full of all such elements where you actually feel like watching a perfect kdrama.
Not just that but even if you are not into these things it's a sweet romance read for you all as it is a collection which involves single mother parenting, a kid struggling to fit into a strange world, family facing through mental and serious health conditions and constantly living upto society standards. But still I cant help and only talk about Jaewoo

Yes Yes ik its all of a sudden but I mean the book is actually from Jenny's POV but every time Jaewoo speaks something my heart went ABXJSJEBXBRBFKKWXH in Aww.. which is so cringe i knowww!!! but this is what kdramas are all about and specially if its about any kpop boy band then you are bound to fall into this trap.... ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT!!!
Not so fancy but everything being so short, sweet and simple.. it does sound so realistic.
Ahhh I was so worried about how it would end but it's satisfying enough even thou it's not so huge but still....
I guess I should just stop now... well... Go and buy your copy guysss...
I just can't wait to go through all her other writings.....
Saranghaeeeeeee Axie oh !!!!! XOXO..

This is such a cute book. I'm a sucker for famous person x 'normal' person stories, and I love that k-pop's craze has helped that pop off xD Even if I'm not personally a k-pop fan, still love these type of stories. I blame Camp Rock for that xD But I did appreciate here that they met while Jenny was oblivious to Jaewoo's identity. It's not never-before-seen, but it's always a nice touch. Especially because when the reveal happens, it's very dramatic and fun xD

I felt for Jenny's plight, primarily with her mom. It's very hard when someone else is trying to dictate the direction of your life, and I thought the resolution to that was heartwarming, if short. Also, it was nice that we got to see her have her own life outside of her relationship. This was actually made as a point in the novel in the later part, and I was very grateful to it. Because yes, please, more characters that have an evident life outside of their boyfriend/girlfriend T^T Especially in YA romances, where people want to act like obsession and love are the same thing.

Jaewoo was a very solid character, playing the role of the hardworking and serious idol (though Sun also took some of the usual traits also given to this character type), but he also managed to be a kid at the same time, and it was well balanced. I would have had fun seeing a bit more angst there, but I can also appreciate his stubbornness to his heart.

All of the other characters were really fun as well, and I'm glad to see there's a Sori and Nathaniel spin-off because I definitely want to dive into that. Speaking of, the female friendship between Sori and Jenny was *chefs kiss*

However, the book wasn't perfect. It's probably a bit my fault for reading this as an adult, but the pacing felt rushed occasionally, especially the end. I felt like it could have used one more chapter. Maybe an epilogue or something. I also wanted to see more expanded upon with Jenny and her mother. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed these things so much when I was, like, 15, but here, the abruptness stood out. Also, the writing sometimes felt stilted, mostly because of too-simple writing. It could kill the feelings for me sometimes. But, again, this is YA Romance, and it's written as such, so it may just be me being out of the target audience.

BUT this was an adorable story and I definitely want to read more from the author, so I'm gonna say it did a great job as a book :D

Very cute story. Enjoyed the friendships she made, the character growth, and the fun setting. Just wish there had been more in the ending, to see more of the characters at the end and how they fared after the semester, but maybe that’s in book 2. I’m looking forward to reading the second book since I really loved Sori and Nathaniel.
