I still really love this novel with all it's flaws and weird moments. Also the 1818 version was a really interesting read as it's the original version, before criticisms and the death of basically everyone in Mary Shelley's life.

I was blown away and couldn't put this down. It's one of those books I probably read at the right time in my life. There were many moments throughout where Frankenstein described how he missed the mountains and scenes and companions of his native Geneva, and I relate as someone who's just moved away from a really beautiful country they grew up in. I also thought Shelley's description of depression and despair that both Frankenstein and the creature felt for most of the story were really well written. Idk, I was just really moved by this story and loved the writing style. It's kinda crazy how prescient Shelley was too, with the whole "pushing science far just because we can without fully regarding the consequences". It seems even more relevant today in a world on the constant brink of annihilation from nuclear weapons and possibly unsafe viral research. Anyway, one of the best classics I've read.
