This series feels refreshing not so much because it does anything super offbeat or breaks any genre conventions, but because it actually just kind of feels like a well written book. Not just good for a light novel, but actually just good.

Olivia is always fun, but seeing the development of Ashton and Claudia is also really nice, with some worrying foreshadowing on the horizon. And the way the larger conflicts are developing make me excited for the next volume.
