Witty and entertaining. We listened to it on a road trip and I can see why it is beloved by many. Good talking points about conflict and war.

A birthday gift from Mike, this was a much-beloved book from his childhood - continuing our tradition of giving each other gifts of books we fell in love with. This one is charming and lovely, joyful and unique. I loved every word.

Recently reread this for the first time since I was a kid. Had forgotten how awesome it was.

One of my favorite books as a child. It has rich characters and a wonderful story with a "David vs Goliath" concept. My copy is sitting on my kid's bookshelf waiting for that time when I can share this book with them.

Read this again for the first time since elementary or middle school, and I think I enjoyed it even more as an adult. Keeping this one on my shelf!

One of my favorite books from childhood, it tells the story of a war in New York City in 1986 between the pushcarts and the trucks. It reads so realistically that I always thought it was true, and I always wanted to go down to Bleecker Street to take place in the annual reenactment.
