I really liked the format of this book. However, I feel like they skimped on some. Any man (except perhaps Harrison) who led our country deserved more than a 1 page writeup.

5.0

I (and my child) were both extremely impressed with Our Country’s Presidents. Ann Bausum did a great job portraying both the good and bad sides of each president and their administration without it ever feeling overly judgmental. In an age where some people are constantly trying to sweep the dirt under the rug, it was refreshing to read this take. To read it and to know that kids would be reading it as well.
The layout was fantastic. The flow made sense, the colors were pleasing, and I loved how they found a few things from each president to highlight for quotes. There was a lot of detail in this book, but it never felt overwhelming.
The only (minor) criticism I have is that there are some big words in here that readers on the younger end of the expected age range for this book may not understand. However, if parents choose to read it with their child, this is easy to overcome.
My child enjoyed reading this with me and asked me every night to cover a little more with her. It has been a while since she’s shown that much interest in a nonfiction book.

Her review is: Our Country’s Presidents is very exquisite in detail. I have learned about many presidents from the past, like George Washington to George W. Bush. It even has our newest President, Joe Biden, in it!  I learned about slavery – specifically which presidents owned slaves – and other issues associated with each president.

I liked the coloring and the layout. It was easy to read. It is cool how you can learn so much about presidents from just one book.  Five-star rating, highly recommended.
