I mean... What a fun time! This is what a young adult thriller should be like. It's dark and mysterious, but in an age-appropriate way for a teenage audience, yet still works for older readers as well. The clues get revealed in a satisfying way and aren't obvious. The characters are interesting and diverse in multiple ways and full of personality. There's some good social commentary, but it doesn't feel overdone. I felt ambivalent about the romance side plot, but it didn't take anything away from the main plotline.

An exciting, easy read, one you can breeze through. Is it deep? No. Is it entertaining? Absolutely!

Great as a palate cleanser or for getting out of a reading slump.

Keep in mind that it's YA, for those who are not the target audience. One character definitely scratches the back of their head too much and there is a lot of “dorky/funny” dialogue as well as a teen romance I did not care about, but if that's something you can overlook, you’re still going to have fun with this one.

A nice, chill distraction from my school work, but Pip’s investigation was definitely morally questionable and I’m not sure how I feel about the reveal in the end hmph
