I loved this book! Poirot is my favorite character of Agatha Christie's, and he was great in this story. Christie is a master of mystery, and I was blown away by her ability to construct such an interesting and intricate story. I loved the way she wrapped up the mystery, I never would have guessed! I highly recommend the read.

It has been my goal to read the Hercule Poirot Mysteries in order (and so far I have with 1-11!), but with the release of the new Kenneth Branagh movie, my fiancé told me I had to read it before spoiling it with watching. She’s right of course (and always is). And I’m certainly glad I read it first.

So as of right now I’ve read books 1-11, Hercule Poirot’s Christmas, Hallowe’en Party, and probably 1-2 dozen short stories, and Death on the Nile is definitely far above the others in terms of complexity. There is quite literally over half a dozen crimes committed in this one! I do not have a logical or meticulous mind, so to me it still feels like maybe she’s just pulling facts and clues out of a hat, but damn do I enjoy reading it. Of course all of these mysteries involve crime, so you’re reading a lot of murder, thievery, debauchery, but wow this one in particular was very very dark.

Why does it seem like Hercule can never take a dang vacation? His little grey cells are just too powerful.

I'm really disappointed in this. It's the first time an Agatha Christie book had an ending I guessed at once, and the first I really didn't enjoy.

Woof, I forgot how racist, classist,, and misogynistic Agatha Christie's writing is. I understand part of it being the time it was written in but I won't be reading any of her other works again.
