a terrific blend of history and mystery. Attica Locke can write the suspenseful scenes that will make your hair stand on end. besides a thriller and a mystery this is a close look at race and society in the South from the civil war to present day and how the stories of Blacks and whites are intertwined.

Good read, good suspense, but what had me mad was Caren and Eric. Two hard head people who can't see the forest for the trees. I hope she write another book with these two. They just fit together, I hate when that happens.

This novel has an enthralling historical setting, unsatisfying relationships and few exciting moments.

Very well written, great story, keeps you guessing, I was a little surprised by the killer, it was well hidden until the "big reveal". Would read more by this author!

In the end I figured out who had done it before the reveal, but I enjoyed the journey of why so much that we’re still giving five stars. It’s a good thriller, with layers of history and complications and I’d highly recommend it

Enjoyed this one by Ms. Locke. Not as good as her Texas Ranger series, but still a solid read. It was more litfic than thriller.  There was a mystery and moments of suspense, but it overall felt like a drama. I throughly enjoy and appreciate her writing style, and will continue to pick up her books.
