Wow. I’ve never read a true crime book before and this was diving into the deep end. The author tells this horrific account with great compassion for the sisters and other victims. I would recommend this story to true crime lovers, criminal psychology enthusiasts, and people who believe in the power of sisterhood.

Though well written, I found this book extremely difficult to read given it is a true story. It hooked me at the start and was very fast paced. About the halfway point, I contemplated abandoning the book due to its graphic content. It's extremely heavy. I truly could not believe some of the things I read.  However I powered through the book in hopes for the best outcome possible for their situation. Overall the book was a good read. Not the best thing I've ever read but If you enjoy true crime this would be up your ally.

This is a horrible story of an evil mother, her brave children and victims. I usually enjoy true crime but for some reason did not enjoy this book as much. It read a bit slow and I felt like could've been a shorter book.

The writing in this book really ruined it for me. It felt very poor for the first half, after that it just seemed I had grown “used” to it. The events described are horrific, and it’s hard to remember that these are things people truly lived through and experienced. Reading their story is really the only thing that kept me reading. Their events are told in detail though, so this book is not for the faint of heart as some of the things described are incredibly hard to read.

Somehow the saddest part about this book is that it’s all very real. I had to stop and remind myself often that I was reading nonfiction & people actually lived this wild, insane, and incredibly unfortunate experience.

Yes, it was incredibly engaging for my thriller / crime loving mind, but thinking about trauma and the reality that these people are free in the world again, mind blowing.
