I've wanted to read this for a long time and never had the chance to until now.

There's likely been so much written about Their Eyes that I don't know how I could contribute to the conversation other than sharing that I enjoyed the story and the power of its many messages.

Janie's great strength, foolish errors, and commitment to growth could be read as a testament to the way a life should be lived by all. There are unquestionably pertinent messages to the intersectionality of race, gender, time, and geography, yet Janie's messages could be best received by many.

As too could the follies, failures, fantasies, and fallacies lived by Janie's husband. Unappreciative, self-involved, and truly in love come through in their own ways through their own characters - each with more than enough to learn from and grow beyond.

The dialogue is compelling and the narrative beautifully crafted. The book drives forward like the water from the 'glades in the midst of a storm.

Well worth getting around to, and definitely one to be read at any earlier age, and then read again.
