This is an ok love story with a lot of being true to oneself and overcoming adverse situation or trauma at the side. The story is well laid out and the banter between the main characters is fun and well written. I don't care too much about the Christianity parts that are occasionally sprinkled on top, they feel stiff to me. All in all an enjoyable read.

Do not let the cover of this book fool you! While it may look like your typical light-hearted RomCom on the outside, the story inside is truly so much more than that... while still having all the wonderful elements that I love in a RomCom too.

Witty banter, check. Delightful use of tropes, check. Swoon-worthy kisses, check.

Among all of that, we are also introduced to two very broken characters who have faced trauma in their lives. This story takes on some very heavy topics that could easily make this a much heavier read but is done so with grace and respect in a way that actually offers a message of hope and healing. I feel like this is something that Becky Wade does wonderfully, and this one is a prime example of that. (While I won't list them here to avoid spoilers, I would highly recommend visiting the author's website to see sensitive content warnings. While handled well within the story, there are topics that could be triggering to some readers.)

Add some mystery on top of all of that, and I was hooked. From start to finish, I found myself wanting more and more. I have read many books by Becky Wade in the past, and I have enjoyed them all very much. Still, I think Memory Lane has been my favorite of them all, and one of my favorite reads so far this year as well. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series.

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Remy Reed escaped to Islehaven to lead a peaceful, quiet life away from humanity as much as possible. God has other plans for her. Remy ends up rescuing a handsome stranger from the ocean and is forced to care for him in her small, cozy home while he struggles to heal his body and regain his memory.

The handsome stranger ends up being everything Remy fears - charming, well-off, and well-known. The closer he tries to get, the further she tries to push him away, even while helping him try to solve the mystery of HOW he got into the water in the first place and who put him there.

Memory Lane by Becky Wade was a sweet, fast-paced read full of romance, intrigue, and hilarious dialogue. The banter between Remy and Jeremiah, the two main characters, had me rolling on several occasions. I found myself staying up late in order to find out how long it would take them to get together and who was behind Jeremiah's accident. Their chemistry was seriously sizzling even though there was no spice on the pages.

There were a few issues with the writing, though, that caused me to only give the book 3 stars. Several scenes contained huge chunks of dialogue that told major plot points without the characters interacting. It was awkward and choppy. Also, the actions of the FBI agent were suspect. I don't think he'd be able to do most of what he did or act the way he did during an investigation, even in an unofficial capacity.

Even with these issues, the story was enjoyable and the characters engaging!

Favorite Jeremiah quote: “Tell me how to sweet-talk you into giving me more drugs.”
Favorite Remy quote: “He’s the freshly ground Arabica of men. The twenty-one-year-aged rum of men. He’s quick-witted and humorous and so dazzling to look at I feel like I need to wear sunglasses.”

Thank you to the author for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

Remy loves her solidarity life on a remote island off the coast of Maine. She found refuge here after a past trauma, and she has built her life around routine and certainty. But when she sees a man bobbing in the ocean out her window, she throws her day's plans out to go save him. Bringing him back home, she realizes he's not only injured, he is also very handsome and has no memory! She embarks to get him healed and connected back to who he is, but she may have to confront who she is along the way.

This book is so endearing. Remy and the unnamed mystery man (I'll let you discover his identity with him) are opposites even before he starts to gain back his memory, and their banter was so fun.

The amnesia trope is really growing on me. And this one was done so well! The way his memorys are unfurled as he recovers serves the plot so we'll and never feels unearned. Extra fun is there is a side romance in this one that really could have been it's own fun book. Maybe Becky, you can give us a novella from their perspective?!

But back to the main story, I love how the book has multiple points of view through out, and from people other than just the two main characters so that there are layers sprinkled into the plot. Bonus: it sets us up for the next books in the series!

Content Warning: This books touches on murder, sexual assault, and infidelity. DM me if you want more information.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters but it did feel really long and the faith element felt like a throw away to make the book “Christian”. Other than that, really good story.

Isto me lembrou o estilo de mistérios generico escrito e popular nos anos 90, que se vendiam em bancas.

WOW What a wild ride!!! The ending was page turner

I however did not expect the topic of rape to be so deep. Definitely not a fluffy rom com

content warings: sexual abuse, substance abuse, rape

Wished had more faith content tho!
