Hahahahaha hahahaha hahahahaha! When I think about this book, all I can think is: Fire! Fire! Fire!, in Beavis and Butthead voices. What can I say, who doesn't love lighting isht up?

This book is so fun! When this series first started, I really wanted Tess and Bohdi's love story. I wanted to read all about them getting together. Before you get all excited, this isn't it. Sorrynotsorry. But, this is the next best thing.

Sivec takes Tess and Bohdi into the Christmas Cliche world. And the way she connects the two book worlds is GENIUS! But we all already know that Sivec is genius, so that shouldn't surprise you.

Sivec seems to get me fixated on animals with her books as of late. Right now I'm sitting here wanting to have a bonfire with a hippo. I mean, that's totally normal, right? Don't shake your head at me; it's totally normal.

This book is filled with laughs, glitter, fire, a stalker, moose, strippers, and fun. If you were unsure of whether you wanted to read this or not, those things alone should have just convinced you. If they don't convince you, then you have some serious issues.

Things I liked:
- I enjoyed Bodhi's character, and how the author portrayed him using weed to manage anxiety
- Steamy scenes were A+

The rest of the book was a damn mess though. It felt like a bunch of vignettes and conversations thrown together with no connective tissue. Sure, I haven't read the other books, but I should at least be able to follow this story from scene to scene without feeling like half of the plot took place off-page in a cave in the dark. They don't really do anything for a while except fuck and burn curtains, then there's this random Christmas List fantasy shoehorned into the last 15 pages????

While I liked Bodhi as the male lead, Tess was an absurd caricature, like the author of My Immortal was allowed out of writer jail and permitted to publish a contemporary romance. She's an emo edgelord whose entire personality is being emotionally unavailable while also setting things on fire. It was beyond over the top and dramatic, and I spent the whole novella wishing she'd get some therapy and grow a proper personality.

Oh, and there's a
Spoilersurprise pregnancy
trope. I really hate that journey for me!

I initially started this as a free audiobook on Libby, which was pretty good. I was still packing for my move and I wanted a funny light holiday read because I was extremely stressed out from all things that have to do with moving.

I found this author and was so happy that I did. I plan to read more of her back list and of the books from this universe! This was so funny and exactly what I needed!

Bodhi was my favorite character, Tess not so much. As the book went on, I actually disliked her more. I hated the pyro aspect of her storyline. Bodhi was just so freaking hilarious, yet sexy at the same time. The side characters were all fantastic and I'm guessing they all have their own books within this universe. I can't wait to read those!

I know I'm late to review holiday books, but the Christmas vibes in this book were perfect. You really wouldn't know this is a holiday book by looking at the cover.

The little hotel spot that they go to was fantastic! The holiday themed room that Bodhi & Tess checked into was so fun and hilarious at the same time. This really was almost the perfect Christmas read. I just didn't enjoy Tess at all and I couldn't stand to hear about her wanting to light stuff on fire, over and over.

Ahh I’ve always had a soft spot for my sweet Bodhi. The loveable weed smoking beach bum drifter. He reminds me of my fiancé - a perpetual pot head but the hardest working man and best father I know!

I was hoping these two would get a little side story ever since I read in Swing and a Mishap that Bodhi proposed to Tess during a blowjob

I was so excited that I started off 2020 reading Tara's book Christmas Cliché and ended it reading her novel Dashing Through the No. Without even reading the synopsis to the book, I was extremely excited for the Tess and Bodhi novel. I have only been asking her about a Tess novel since Kiss My Putt. Sorry girl.

Upon reading the first chapter, we learn that Bodhi has a best girl friend named Millie who has been working at a Christmas Bed and Breakfast. From just reading about his friend Millie and nothing more I realized that this book and Christmas Cliché were going to be intertwined. BRILLIANT. I loved everything about Millie and Redinger House, so it was nice to be able to go back and get a little more Christmas spirit from there.

Dashing Through the No was a short, simple, 11 chapter read that was everything! I didn't realize how much I truly needed this novel. This novel was perfect to read over Christmas break and gave me the amount of cheer I needed to finish the holidays!

Thank you to Tara for the ARC and being one of my favorite authors!
