This book made me uncomfortable, upset, depressed, and scared at times. That being said, I believe it was meant to do so as it is a story of raw truth for those with mental health struggles. The writing itself is oddly satisfying and the best thing I can compare it to is painting with acrylics.

A very timely read, being a recent post-grad with the many ambitions and wonders of the world dwindling to an existentially harsh reality.
Spoiler keep that electroshock shit away from me!

it truly wouldn't be a book from the 60s without casual racism and homophobia
