Ok so this had such an amazing start, an amazing middle, and then at around 80% everything fell... flat. Like the climax was misplaced. Very badly.

I loved Lou. Her fieriness, her powerfulness, her humanity... amazing. The author really developed her well and I’m so happy I enjoyed her character so much. Such a breath of fresh air!

Reid... not so much. I kind of lacked personality for me and I feel like he was only there to give another POV to the story, like another camera angle.

As I said pacing slowed near the end. Also the awkward french sentences sprinkled here and there tore away from the flow. Honestly, don’t do this please. I appreciate the inspiration from French culture and language but... leave it at that. Don’t go putting french sentences to give the translation. Please don’t.

Ive said so much negative yet I really loved this book. I especially loved that you can distinctly tell apart both voices.

I was surprise by how much I loved this book. It had some of my favorite tropes, enemies-to-lovers, arranged marriage, forced proximity, slow-burn romance. The enemies-to-lovers trope was definitely a true enemies to lovers. There was a lot of risk for both characters involved in pursing a relationship together (being mortal enemies), and it made their budding romance much more bitter-sweet.

I loved Lou and the chaos she creates anywhere she goes, I felt like Reid (being a man of the church) had to clutch his pearls at half the outrageous things she said and did and that made for a very entertaining read.

I absolutely loved this book. If I didn’t have to go to class I would have finished it in one day. I’ve read a few books that were claimed to be enemies to lovers but didn’t hold true, this book was a true enemies to lovers. I loved the dual POV and both of their character arcs were amazing. They both had amazing character arcs. Everything about this book was spectacular!!!!!!

I loved this book. Even though the witches and hunters storyline is nothing new, the author managed to make it her own. For instance, in this version, magic requires balance/sacrifice and does not come from nowhere.

If you loved Nina and Matthias in Six of Crows, you will love Lou and Reid. They are identical yet manage to create their own banter and relationship you can't help but be invested in.

The writing was fantastic. I could really feel the character's emotions and that steamy scene was extremely well written
