Auren’s Stockholm Syndrome is still strong, but the growth I thought I saw coming at the end of book one is already happening and I’m here for it. I had several theories proved right, but I’m not mad about it. One of them, the author had me second guessing myself! Excited to move on to the next book!

She finally came to her senses!!

There's something about the way these books are written that just flows really well in my brain so I've absolutley flown though both Gild and Glint. And I was so happy with the last bit of this book. Auren was really annoying me and frustrating me, but she finally came to her senses and snapped tf out of it and I couldn't be more proud of her growth.

“oh, goldfinch. you think i’m a monster now, but you haven’t seen anything yet.”

i cannot wait to see where the rest of the series takes auren. i am really counting on midas’ demise, especially if it comes by auren’s hand. there was a lot of world building in this book, though not as much as the first, which made it a smoother read for me. if anyone reads this review and decides to read this book, keep the quote i attached in mind.

„He shakes his head. “No, Auren. You’re the one that needs to burn. You need to spark to life and fight. Stop letting him dull you, stop letting the whole fucking world trample you,” he shouts, making me flinch from the vehement demand. “If you tried, you could shine brighter than the fucking sun. Instead, you’ve chosen to sit back and wither.”“

➳ Once again, Raven Kennedy‘s writing was immaculate and I couldn‘t put this book down whatsoever! The whole series is just so addicting that I picked up the third book right after finishing this lol

➳ Commander Rip got me from the first page, their conversations and the way he‘s trying to show her her real worth? Omg. Can‘t get over them and I‘m so excited to see their journey!!

➳ The side characters are just making this whole series so perfect, every single one is unique and it never get‘s boring to read about people other than the main characters. I think Raven Kennedy did an awesome job at making them likable and lovable

➳ Once again I loooved the wintery traveling setting

➳ Gotta say that the plot twists can be expected and seen from a mile away, but I gaped nonetheless when they happened

➳ I loved the development of Auren, thinking about everything that had happened, who has actually done her wrong and her starting to see her real worth and develop self love <3

➳ Also I‘m still trying to figure out whether I like Malina or not, nonetheless her POV‘s are pretty entertaining and I‘m excited to see where her journey‘s going to go

➳ Oh and also? I HATE MIDAS!!!

This book is not good for my health because every time Auren yearned to return to Midas my blood pressure skyrocketed, but I guess that’s the reality of having the ideology of someone she thought she could trust deeply ingrained into her very being. Props to author to be able to invoke such visceral feelings from me. But still Auren dear stop being such a goddamn doormat in the next book

I liked this one better than the first. I was really struggling to love Auren. Rip intrigued me from the get go and Midas has always given me the ick. I also found a lot of the reveals predictable in this book.

I had to keep reminding myself that Auren is responding to trauma and that’s why she makes what I would call dumb decisions. It made it difficult to get through sometimes. I want to root for Queen Malina but I am not rooting for her she’s almost as ugly as Midas. Midas not having any actual powers surprised me and Rip and Rot being the same person also surprised me

There was enough interesting things and surprises to keep me interested but I’m going to need Auren to step it up for me to love this series because at this time it’s a meh. I do like however how it shows someone breaking down and dismantling their beliefs and how difficult that can be.
