This may be the longest book I've read. Should've gone with the abridged version. The beginning seemed especially long and drawn out. Overall an excellent good versus evil quest story with many great characters.

HOLY SHIT, this book took me forever to read. It wasn't until about the half-way point of the book that I was actually able to blow through the book. The build up to the action was boring and really unneeded. In the end though, it was needed. All of the small people in the book make up really the entire story so if I had read the abridged version it might not make much sense. A very good book, not the best Stephen King but still a really great read.

M-O-O-N that spells “really long book” Not complainin’, laws no. Having read this book ages ago, I realize don’t remember a cotton-pickin’ thing about the story. What’s so brilliant about this book that it warrants 5 stars? Story and character development. Shoot, even some animals have a back story and “think”. Granted, some things could have been cut out and it wouldn’t change the story at all. Especially the random sexual musings. I guess it’s to shock back out of the lull of getting comfortable in the story. But, hearing about a rando character’s fantasy to run the bases at a famous ballpark naked and “relieve” his loins upon home plate really does nothing for the story. I also found myself skipping entire chapters because of never ending sexual “stuff”. Aside from this, it’s a great story with great, memorable characters (of whom I remember quite a few from my first reading).
