Interesting story, I like the way it jumped back and forth between times. Also, I accidentally got the large print version from the library.

Conjure Women tells the story of May Belle , Rue, and Varina in three different time periods. Focusing on the midwives and healer women on a plantation during Slavery, Freedom, and War. The story is told through varying POVs and the way it is written is whiplash inducing. We go back and forth and back and forth through different POVs and it just feels so disjointed. The book goes on and on and then there is no real climax. This wasn’t the book for me.

This book is haunting, sad, and impactful. It was a graphic and difficult read, but also a very thought provoking and powerful story.

Reading the first quarter of this book, I realised it was not what I had expected from the blurb.
