How does a novelization of a movie have any right being this well written? I do not know. This was incredible, magnificent. Heartbreaking, of course. The tragedy of the careful descent into wickedness and evil is so subtle and so breathtaking. And so true. The way it ends with Hope, in spite of all the horror and the evil that was just on full display...is beautiful. Much, much better is this book than its two predecessors. And yet, the entirety trilogy is remarkable.

I LOVE YOU PADMÉ.

I have mixed feelings about this. It read more like a YA novel than I was expecting, but even for that the prose was beautiful and imagery was used creatively and poetically. I love the story, but I can't get over how it felt like 350 pages of drawn out setup only to have a 50-page rushed ending. Still glad I read it. It does add some depth to the movie.

Shelving for now. Idk when I’m going to ever read this. I keep putting it off unfortunately. It’s not even a disappointing read. I just have other priorities when it comes to reading.

felt like reading a really early version of the screenplay, elements of the dialogue are unchanged but overall i like the dialogue in the movie better cause i love anakin and this book made it a lot harder for me to ignore his flaws. also loved that there were some clone wars and legends references!

It was good enough that I chewed through it in maybe five sessions when I really ought to have been going to sleep, but I wasn't left very satisfied. The ending was kinda rushed, and the ambiguity over right/wrong kinda distracted me I think, while everybody's tortuous experience of the events of the novel were quite wearing.

This is the best novelization of a movie I have ever read. Bar none.

If you are a Star Wars fan: read it.

Wow. Not only is this the best of the Star Wars novelizations I've read; it's also the most fun I've ever had with an audio book. All the buzzes, pings, crackles, and explosions you'd get as sound effects in the movies are here, along with the a good chunk of John Williams' original score, making it a fully immersive experience not unlike a radio drama.

Having said that, the official Star Wars radio drama for the original trilogies does trump this audio book for me, but not by much. If you're a fan of Star Wars, audio books, or epic space operas just in general, go track this down and take yourself on a good, long road trip.
