Synopsis
Abby's mother has been missing, presumed dead, for five years. Now new evidence has surfaced and Abby wants to embark on a quest to see if they can find more information. But the new evidence suggests something supernatural, and Abby isn't at all a believer. Together with Charlie, whose father also disappeared, and his girlfriend Shelby, the teens will take on something you won't want to miss.

Why Should You Read It?
The suspense is well done. The story is highly creepy.

What Can You Learn From the Author's Writing?
Alternating timelines. This story pops back-and-forth between two important events in the story, giving you information in an interesting spiral that makes it more suspenseful. Masterful!

Overall Rating
4 smiles, very well done!

Hellworld starts off in the middle of a cave where a girl and her two friends think they are trapped forever -- and then immediately jumps back into the past where the decision to go into the cave began, and it continues to jump back and forth the rest of the novel. It's not my favorite technique, but it somehow adds suspense to hear of a scene and then to witness it in its full glory, like a movie trailer for each flashback scene. I loved the mix of mythology and science and the nature of man. This book will give you chills and set your imagination wandering.

Enjoyable horror story. Big twist near the end was entirely too convenient and made me rethink my positive review, but thankfully the author acknowledged it later on in the plot. Ends with no resolution, but unfortunately I don’t see any indication that there will be a sequel. Nice readalike for The Devil and Winnie Flynn. Recommended.

I would actually give this book a rating of 3.5. I found it engrossing and fun to read. It was the last thirty pages or so that caused me to drop the rating down from a four. Not to say that out ended badly but I found it very anti-climatic. I also feels like this book needs a sequel but when I bought it I was told that this was a stand alone.

I tried really hard to get into this but it wasn't doing anything for me. Maybe I'll try again someday?

I like the concept and I really enjoyed how we alternated from timeline a-b and timeline b-c so you simultaneously saw the buildup and aftermath. The ending however was super unsatisfactory

DNF at 50%. The combination of timeline switching and not feeling any connection to the characters was too much
