My first Lee child novel.
A couple weeks ago we watched a jack reacher movie with Tom cruse and I so love the character that I looked up and learned the movie was based on a book. Thought I would give the author a try and loved it. My new favorite author.

Not a bad book, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first Reacher novel. It was a little slow in parts but ramped up towards the end. I found Child’s overly descriptive segments, whilst they were a good description of what was happening, overly long and pointless and the book could easily have done without them (such as the bullet firing sequences). Also I think the romance could’ve been handled a bit better, it was a bit odd in places such as the sex scene next to the grave of the body that Reacher had spent all day digging. I also found the constant need to switch between Reacher’s perspective one chapter and then that of the FBI the next a little annoying, as whilst the FBI segments added to the story they definitely weren’t as interesting as the Reacher chapters and I thought that there was too many of them. I still enjoyed the book however and it certainly won’t be the last Reacher novel that I read.

Reacher, always the hero is unable to turn a blind eye against injustice. The problem is this time the FBI thinks he's actually with the bad guy. I like the Reacher books this far, but found the beginning of this one to be slow and I could not understand why the kidnappers would keep reacher around, given he's not their target and is definitely a threat to their success. But overall a good action story!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first in the series. Jack Reacher seems to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time and he always gets the girl (if only for a short time). A good read but I did find the sections describing the various guns to be overwhelming - Child is obviously very knowledgable but I found those sections to be a bit dry.

I loved the strong female lead that wasn't a damsel in distress. Interesting plot. Will keep reading through the Jack Reacher series.
