  • Easy read (4 hours)
  • Definitely among the worst books I've read, both character and plot wise. Starting with the extremely unlikeable characters, there were so many issues. Desi was so manipulative, bordering on evil. The fact that she drew out a comprehensive that involved misrepresenting her character is insane.
SpoilerShe orchestrated a car crash to make a boy like her and the author portrayed this as romantic?
Desi also used faux feminism to justify her actions and admitted to using her mother's death to get her way, just more lows among a series of lows. The love interest was annoying and spoiled. His dad was actually a responsible parent, and all he did was complain. He struck me as a privileged, sheltered, rich white boy.
  • There were occasional funny dialogues.

This was so sweet and cute but I got a bit stuck in the middle cause I started getting so nervous about Luca finding out. So much second hand embarrassment.

But I loved her relationship with her dad so much.

This read was the one book by this author that I had not read before. It had a super cute concept and it was a cute read. I think using K drama concepts to land your man is a fun concept. I thought the overall this read was cute but some elements of this story came acrosss as being a bit manliptuve in geeneral as a character. I read through this book super quick but the story did not wow me it. I did like the characters overall!!

Ahh this was soooo much fun to read. It embodied my epic love for kdramas mixed with YA contemporary romance; and honestly it was such a heartwarming combination. This honestly felt like a kdrama from start to finish and it was so dramatic and unrealistic (sometimes) and adorable I just loved reading it. Also the kdrama references throughout got me a bit too excited (I've literally seen almost every kdrama mentioned in this book... who's surprised? Not me.)

Although it wasn't particularly groundbreaking the diverse rep was something I thoroughly enjoyed even though I felt like there was something missing in this book. I just can't pinpoint exactly what it is.

But, I'd have to say my biggest issue with this book is the usage of ableist language, although I know the author probably did not intend for it to come off that way it was still a bit iffy to see a lot of those words used. Could've been way better without them.

I love K dramas so this sounded like it might be cute. While there were parts of it I liked (mostly the bits with Desi and her dad), this book has a pretty awful message. Getting inspired by K-dramas and making a list of steps to go after the guy you like? Yeah, okay.
SpoilerSome of those steps putting your crush in potentially fatal situations? Multiple times??? Yeah, that's not cool. Repeatedly endangering your crush's life, having him find out about it and break up with you, and continuing to manipulate him to get him back? She just never learns! The staged car accident was waaaaay crossing the line for me, but I maybe would have been all right seeing them together at the end if she had learned her lesson when he found out about her plotting and abandoned the list at that point. But she keeps at it, she nearly kills him AGAIN, and she's rewarded for it when he (WHY????) ends up getting back together with her. WTF WTF WTF.

What an unhealthy, awful relationship. What a manipulative, awful main character. What a disappointing read.

At least I'm really in the mood for a good K drama now?

I really wanted to love this but I was disappointed with
Spoiler
Girl gives up on her college dreams because of the boy
becomes depressed because of the boy
ignores her friends or becomes mean to them because of the boy

and that's why I'm taking 2 stars from my rating.
Since this is a young adult novel, it's not ok to teach teen girls just to give up on everything just because a pretty boy came to her school.
