It was simply average for me. Just about everything was phoned in; the courtroom, the "mystery", and the characters. Not believable and lazy writing.

Non-believeable characters in non believeable circumstances made this book pedestrian. If you're looking for a twist, you won't find it. If you're looking for everything to be tied up in what feels like a rushed CBS hourly crime drama, then you might enjoy this story. It has a perfect fix it solution at the end of every situation that feels cheap.

Better books out there if twist plots are your thing.

This book held my attention right through the end. I like how she went back and forth between before and after, and it had me guessing all the way to the end. I would recommend this as a book club book!

I usually don’t pick thrillers/mysteries but I really loved this book. I also loved the unique way the writer told the story - starting at one point and going backwards for one character and coming forward for another and then meeting together. Many times I thought I knew the ending but I guessed wrong every time. 4.5 stars.

**Warning this text contains spoilers**
There is nothing more fun than walking into your library and seeing fives copies of a book you've been anticipating sitting there, on the shelf. Ah, such bliss.

Anyway, this is a murder mystery so I am going to do my review a little differently. I will discuss the non-spoilers and then discuss the spoilers.

NON-SPOILER SECTION:
This book is well written. I really loved the court scenes. The mystery was really interesting.

SPOILER SECTION (LEAVE IT YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK):
Sorry about how short the Non-spoiler section is.

So the ending: Anna who was killed was an impostor. Basically. It's a lot more complicated than that. Anyway, that was a kinda sort of plot twist and it was honestly disappointing. Much less than things I was imagining.

Let's talk about the ending, as in the last few pages. I really liked the happy ending, as you we don't see that much in mysteries.

Bottom Line:
5 Stars: This book kept me guessing until they end.

This book is fantastic!! I had seen this book recommended as a new release and fancied something fresh and different. I borrowed it as a quick read from the library and I have done nothing but ensure I finished it in time for its return! It had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book! I loved it! What I especially enjoyed was the clear dictation of the court case! The author has grounded a new interest in me and I will be looking out for her other work.

Maggie is a divorcee who got remarried to Dr. Noah Alderman, a pediatric allergist. She loves him, and adores his little boy Caleb. Then Maggie’s estranged 17-year-old daughter suddenly gets back in touch, and Maggie invites Anna to live with her, Noah and Caleb. Maggie is so overjoyed to have her daughter back that she ignores the warning signs that something may be amiss. Then Anna is murdered and Noah is the prime suspect. This thrilling novel proves once again what a master Scottoline is at her craft.
