Like all of his books, anxious people hooked me from the first chapter. I DEVOURED the last 150 pages. I’m shocked by how funny it was…. Although I don’t understand the “how’s tricks” thing…. I’ll have to Google it.
oh my god the twist of the female bank robber got me. I read that part on international woman’s day then had a hoot laughing because how silly of me to think women COULDNT be terrible bank robbers 🤣

Poignant and unique! Wow! I was so happy with this read! Backman’s writing style is so modern and fun! He leaves you on the edge of your seat without feeling stressed!

All of the interwoven threads within this book is exactly how reading should be experienced. I loved how each character had their own demon to fight through. It showcases the beautiful chaos that is being human. I never thought I would enjoy a book about a hostage situation quite so much!

I didn’t really know anything about Anxious People when I picked it up, I had just seen it everywhere on book displays and on social media. I didn’t even know it had a Netflix Show until halfway through the book!

I was nicely surprised by Anxious People, which I thought was going to be a depressing literary novel about everyday life, but is actually a feel good comedy that touches on the everyday struggles we all face as humans. The characters are all intertwined in interesting ways and it was fun to read about how all these quirky people get along during the worst hostage situation by the worst back robber ever.

If you’re looking for a fun and light read that still manages to have great characters and a feel good mood, I would suggest Anxious People.
