First half was ok. Glad it’s short.

Merry Farmer's are hit or miss for me, I liked most of the West Meets East series (former prostitutes from the American West take on England) and the Silver Foxes of Westminster series (May/December romances with debutantes and older politicians). This one however was rather cringeworthy. I can suspend my disbelief with the best of them, but when complete innocent Verity decides after an embarrassing debut at Almack's that being a mistress is a preferable avenue, I had to shake my head. She thinks it's a life of romance and financial security.

He takes no care with her first time (he just can't help himself! jfc what a charmer). I had her marked TSTL by the time she let the hackney driver grope her breasts in front of their townhouse and it didn't get much better. Another reviewer mentions the blow-job exchange, Thomas wants to "teach her to swallow his cock" she wonders aloud "swallow it? Is it detachable?" She isn't joking. Verity is seriously lucky no one else took advantage of her naivety, except for the guy who magically falls in love with her. The only highlight for me was the hilariously awkward scene of the three sisters deep-throating breakfast sausages that they nearly choke on when their older brother walks in the room.

I won't be continuing with this series.

I am no longer giving 5 star ratings that do not have diversity. No BIPOC, queer, or characters with a disability. 3.5 Stars.

A bunch of silly fun! A quick read about a woman who decides she'd rather have the freedom of a mistress than the constraints of polite society.
