Oh my god he's actually a genius.

This book had me gripped straight away all the way through!

The plot flies perfectly and the book is written so masterfully.

I completely understand why people love Brandon Sanderson so much... I'm too late to the party! 

Think I'll be jumping straight into book 2!

In the world in which this story takes place, it is common for noblemen to rape poorer women and then have them executed so they will not bear children. We don’t ever read about it as it’s happening, but it is discussed several times for the purpose of showing the evil in the empire.

The audio version would be better if a female read it since the main protagonist is female. However the narrator did well.

Even though my friends refused to confirm any of my predictions/answer my questions in advance, I really loved this book and begrudgingly guess they were right that it is better to just let Sanderson confirm all. My only complaint literally is there are not more women in it - it's essentially just Vin, and then one villainous woman and one dead woman. I absolutely love the world building, and while my friends are telling me to savor these books, I just want to devour them and know everything.
