I'm much more into Jane after this second book. Looking forward to continuing the series.

Second book with Jane Yellowrock. I'm learning more about her and her history while she's learning too. I found some moments slower moving, but they are great to have as background for her character.

I will say it was neat to see how everything came together for the end. There were several things happening in the vampire community that Jane discovers are connected. It's a great world for conspiracy and hidden secrets with the loooong, secret lives lived. Jane finds a way to be at the center of all the action.

Oh Jane. She's not one to be diplomatic. lol. She has a problem with words at times, which is her lack of people skills. And it's beautiful. lol. She does stir things up and keep them interesting with this boldness she has. And she sure gets into a lot of tight spots as well. I did fear for her a few times in this book.

I've been enjoying the narrator too. She's really good at voicing all the characters and I really enjoy her voice for Angie baby.

This book takes a turn that I was afraid it would. But to see Angie Baby starting to come into her powers, oh yes. I look forward to seeing more from her as she grows up. I really hope we get to see it in this long series.

I'll be continuing with the series. It gives me my action and mystery of troubles and murder. And in a great world of magic and vampires and more.

As with skinwalker I had a bit of a hard time getting into it but about halfway through I didn't want to put it down. It is a pretty dense read for urban fantasy as I can usually fly through them. Looking forward to reading the next one when it comes in at the library.

This sophomore entry into the series to me was significantly better than the debut. The writing was sharper, cleaner, and we spent much less time meandering through a complex story and more time getting shit done with real stakes this time (no pun intended.) The climax was hair raising and terrifying, but also had the joy of adding more questions than it answered. I wish we had gotten more time with some of the side characters that I really loved although giving more spotlight to Bruiser and Ricky were 100% worth it. Biggest drawback? There is SOOOOOO much delicious sexual tension between Jane and Brusier and like, the Soft Gentle kind between her and Rick, so I was denied in two ways: no rough and tumble under the full moon with the baddest blood servant in town, but also no ANYTHING on paper between her and Rick, just a "...well...you know..." NO! SMOOCHES OR DEATH, JANE. I needed the fluff and felt jipped. Overall though, super solid urban fantasy novel, and by God am I glad it's more than 10 books long so I have a whole lotta reading to get done over spring break. I've already downloaded the next 4 books. Get ready, y'all.

pg-18, fun and adventurous, i like the fact that these books can stand on their own, i like learning about new orleans and i think her treatment of the character as an animal is pretty good ..
