the writing and side characters were good and fine. their dynamics were fun and the magic was interesting.

biggest issue i had was with the main character. she was a bit dense, and she did everything she could to get away from Coldthistle for the majority of the book (while Coldthistle is where i had the most enjoyment)

her relationship with Lee wasn't particularly compelling either. nothing about them really sparked for me, and him as a character was kind of boring

overall the book wasnt bad or anything; it was just alright.

i don’t really have anything bad to say about this book; i enjoyed the writing style, the overall premise, the characters. at times it might’ve been a bit confusing for me to piece what was going on, but still an overall good read. will definitely check out the second book, too.
