Really enjoyable. I only pick up Nora Roberts every now and then, and I was pleased with it. As I reached the end, I wasn't ready for it to be over. That's how I know it's a 5 star book.

It might be just cause my life is crazy right now with school starting back up in the next few days…. But this one took me a little longer to grab me. Usually Nora has me by page 2…. It it could be me! Could also be cause it was published a while back and the smoking in allll the public places always made me go… huh? Haha.

i didn’t like mmc. he was narrow minded and bc of his past he didn’t want to use the help of professional psychiatrist with her profile on the killer. it was very selfish of him and stupid not to utilize all available resources to find the perpetrator as soon as possible. i couldn’t help but compare mmc to eve dallas, but even she used dr. mira’s help religiously.

mmc ben was a self entitled jerk. ed was my favorite character. i wish he was the mmc of this book. there was zero chemistry between main characters.

i didn’t understand how detectives didn’t see that the fmc was exactly the killer’s type and was in danger sooner. why didn’t they look into laura angle and try to find her and her connection to the killer?

i didn’t like the plot with the 14 yo boy. i felt it was added just to show blind mmc that fmc wasn’t a cold hearted bitch and actually had human emotions. there could’ve been other ways to open his eyes.

the book was too long. everything could’ve been resolved in 10-12 chapters and not 20.

I read this once before; & I don't think I liked it much then, either. But I had to finish it once I started it bc I couldn't remember the ending! lol I didn't feel the romance between the main two main characters, so I didn't feel the book.

Definitely shows it age, but overall the story was still enjoyable even though some lines had me rolling my eyes.

really boring compared to the second in the series, didn’t care about the protagonists at all. probably more like a 2.5 ⭐️ but rounded down because the ending in particular is just a big fizzle out.

This was my first romance novel to ever read at the age of 12. This book is what set me up for a long ride with Romance with Nora Roberts and then branching out to other authors. This is definitely a classic for me and a novel that I hold bear and dear to my heart. It's the perfect blend of Romance, Suspense and Cop Work. Reading it at 12 years old, I swore I was investigating the crime right alone with the hero who happened to be a tough and rough around the edges skeptical who had seen more bad crime in the world than good deeds. Always my go to book!
