A fun return to the Firefly 'verse featuring a heist by our favorite ladies and their nemesis Saffron. I'd say it's worth a read, but not a buy. But a fun read for a Firefly fan.

This wasn't a bad book. The beginning in particular felt like an extension of the show. Maybe some of the dialogue was lifted for the book, or maybe it just seemed more like the way the characters would speak. Either way it worked, but it seemed to drift away from that as the book went on. I enjoyed reading a story focused on the female members of the crew. Each one gets a chance to take the lead in one of the issues. The layout of the book tries to mirror the more cinematic feel of the show in some ways. For the most part, I felt like this worked and helped create the connection to the source material.

The art was good. Most of the characters looked enough like the actors from the show to create a connection. The artist didn't go overboard trying to make them super realistic though. I just wasn't that interested in this particular heist story. I felt like the writer was trying to string the reader along without giving away too much. Like a lot of the books that I've read that do this, it just left me disinterested in what they were trying to save as the big reveal. I'd definitely read more stories featuring the ladies of Firefly. That is more because of how they are constructed in the show than anything this book has to offer though.

Awkward dialogue, weirdly stereotyped characters etc. Felt like watching Birds of Prey - great idea but weakly executed. Sad because Saffron is a favourite and she just came across as a B grade Harley Quinn here. :(

Fun adventure with the women of Serenity, when Saffron recruits them for a job... Different perspectives, different art styles but clever writing and a good sense of fun.

A stand-alone story centering the women of the show. As much as I love the idea of the story, there was something a bit off-putting about the tone for me.
